Kean Miller: Venue and Choice of Law Considerations when Negotiating Contracts

Description

This program will address the importance of understanding, considering, and negotiating dispute resolution, arbitration, venue, and choice-of-law provisions in agreements where performance of the agreement will involve more than one jurisdiction. The presentation will also review the availability of the Texas Business Court , the basic structure and jurisdictional authority of the Texas Business Court, and caselaw generated by the Texas Business Court. The program will also discuss Louisiana’s efforts to develop specialized courts and outline the mechanics of the different types of dispute resolution that may be suggested for negotiated agreements.
